Peduli Anak: Zorg voor het kind

- Project Lombok

Ramdan Hadie
Background Information
I was born and raised in a poor family. I have four siblings. Before I joined Peduli Anak, I worked in an organization which deals with women and children, similar to Peduli Anak. In my previous work, it was required to have patience and sincerity while at the same time aware of the needs of children which include wanting to be taken care of, protected, and motivated as a child, friend, and brother/sister. That way children will grow up to be a better person. As parents, my wife and I work hard to support our child and make sure that our child receives enough love and care from both us and has a good future ahead and good education.
Reasons to Work in Peduli Anak
I feel like Peduli Anak is already part of my life where everyday I take care of children and just like a parent, I have to be patient, sincere, honest and aware of what children need. Therefore at work I try to:
- take care of, protect, and motivate children so they can be better than before.
- be a father, friend and brother/sister for the children.
- gain experience and good workmanship from my work in Peduli Anak that eventually will improve my professional development.

Background Information
I come from a happy family. I have three siblings. My father worked as an entrepreneur and my mother is a housewife. When I was ten years old, I lost my father to a motorcycle accident. Since then, my mother took over the role as the backbone of the family. With the help from my uncle and aunt, my mother could send all her children to school and even sent my older brother/sisters to college.
Since I was a little, I was determined to be a good student. I was always in top three of my schools from primary school to senior high school. My mother didn’t have to pay for my school because I always got scholarships.
My uncle supported me to study Psychology in a private university in East Java. I got my degree in just 3,5 years and graduated cum laude (GPA 3, 82). Then, I went back home to Lombok and applied for a counselor job at Peduli Anak.
My Experience Working in Peduli Anak
This is a good job. Counselor is a very important person in child’s life. Counselor helps children dealing with their problems. The purpose of this is to prepare children for when they face similar problems or other problems in the future, they are able to solve the problem by themselves and in a good way.
Counselor is like a parent for children. Counselor must be able to be a role model for children. It is a noble job. May all children of Peduli Anak become a successful person in the future.

Lalu Said
Background Information
I was born in a farmer family. I have four siblings. I used to work as a teacher when I was still in college. I had to do that to support my education and also to practice what I had learned in college. My family always teaches me to be a humble person. That way, I can achieve my dreams and always give the best to other people.
Reasons to Work in Peduli Anak
I was interested to work in Peduli Anak because I found the work challenging. Working for a street children organization is completely different from working with general children. In addition, I want these children to receive education just like other children and to be able to earn a good living some day.

Yusuf Abdurrahman
Background Information
I came from Bandung, West Java. I relocated to Lombok to help my mother. My mother used to travel everywhere to work, but she had to retire because of age. That time my wife was still in Makasar, South Sulawesi. After four months in Lombok I went to pick up my wife and took her to Lombok so we both could work here. We have to support my mother and send my sibling to college.
In 2008, I heard that Peduli Anak was looking for a counselor and English teacher. I decided to apply for the job because teaching children is my passion and I had some experience teaching English in a junior high school. I got the job and since then I have been the backbone of my family, supporting my mother, wife, child, and my sibling.
Reasons to Work in Peduli Anak
Teaching children is my passion. Besides that, I like to tell stories based on history and give advice to children.

Lili Ahyani
Background
I live with family. I am the second child of seven siblings. I am a housewife and my job is taking care of my husband and child.
Motivation
I am very happy working at YPA and even more so with children. We must have patience and sincerity in caring for the children and their needs.
We have to make friends of the children, in this way, God willing, the children’s development will be good. With this work, hopefully I can get good results and also can support my family finances. Taking care of children at YPA is quite serious, because we must be patient and have a lot of sincerity in taking care of the needs of children. Live and enjoy this work with sincerity and full sense of responsibility.

Background Information
I was born and raised in Mataram, Lombok, in a humble family. My parents took care of me with patience and love. I completed my education from Kindergarten to college with good results. After getting married, I left the house to live with my husband. My husband and I rented a small house. At that time, my husband was still unemployed but I managed to get a job in Peduli Anak as a counselor and were able to support my family.
When I was expecting my first child, my mother passed away. About a week later, I gave birth to a beautiful daughter. My husband and I decided to move in with my father to accompany him after my mother’s death. Right now, my husband works as an entrepreneur.
Reasons to Work in Peduli Anak
I love children. At first, counseling job was completely new to me, but after working for almost four years now, I have grown to love this job more than I ever expected. I get to encounter different characters of children. Even though sometimes I cry or I am hurt by what the children do or say, I can just embrace them and all my misery is gone.
